The Deutsche Poker Sportbund DPSB is Germany’s official national Poker Federation. Since October 13th 2009, DPSB is an official member of the International Federation.

History

Deutscher Poker Sportbund DPSB (founded in 2009 as German Federation of Poker) is Germany’s official national Poker Federation. Since October 13th 2009, DPSB is an official member of the IFMP. It was founded by Stephan Kalhamer, Juergen Bachmann and Mike Koenig together with some other poker-related members.

It was designed and founded as a communication platform for national Poker Clubs with the long term goal, to establish Poker as a mind sport in Germany. Interaction between the Federation and the Clubs is as well a topic as legal issues and development of the game itself.

Current and Past Activities

In 2010 the DPSB Heads-up Live League started and in 2023 the 12th German Team Champion will be crowned. In 2022 the first German Match Poker Championship took place based on the globally recognised Match Poker format. There are also other live and online competitions for teams and individuals.

Some members belonging to the DPSB have set up a poker department in a regular sports club in addition to football, tennis and other sports (e.g. Hanover, Hamburg, Usedom and Regensburg), others are being planned.

In 2011, the DPSB National Match Poker Team was the first world champion in the new format, which was then called Duplicate Poker. In 2022, the team led by Daniel Eylenfeldt was able to repeat this success in Gevgelija, North Macedonia.

Alexander Kleppe has been the new chairman of the board of the DPSB since 2023.
