IFMP President Patrick Nally and Chief Communication Officer Varun Goenka just concluded a very positive visit to the Olympic capital, Lausanne. It kicked off with the 3rd edition of the International Forum for Sports Integrity (IFSI) which took place at the very new and impressive Olympic House, hosted by the IOC and addressed a common goal to protect competitions from manipulation and from related corruption. At the Forum, a new publication, “IOC-UNODC Reporting Mechanisms in Sport: A Practical Guide for Development and Implementation”, was launched. The guide provides information on good practice for sports organisations with regard to receiving and handling reports of wrongdoing, including competition manipulation, harassment, doping and corruption.

Next was the IF Forum at the Royal Savoy Hotel, who’s theme was the very relevant ‘Athlete Centred Sport’. IFMP was made an Observer of GAISF when this program launched two years ago. We are delighted to announce that GAISF have decided to renew our Observer Status for another 2 years after evaluating our renewal application file and supporting documents which evidenced the progress made over the past couple of years. IFMP will continue to work tirelessly towards strengthening its overall application for full membership, with the support of its member federations and athletes worldwide.

IFMP also met with an official from WADA as we are dedicated to fighting doping in sport and have been testing our athletes at our major events from the Nations Cup in Dublin. The meeting involved discussions around enhancing IFMP’s anti-doping program and involving our national federations to push the need for clean sport within their territories. We will also be working towards athlete education and providing as much relevant information as possible to ensure Match Poker stays free of doping.
